Crystal Head is best known for its striking skull-shaped bottle, but the vodka inside deserves recognition too. Made with pure Newfoundland water and filtered through 500-million-year-old Herkimer diamonds, it is a clean, well-crafted spirit. Whether it justifies the premium over less flamboyantly packaged alternatives is another question.

The nose on this is lovely — I immediately got Clean and creamy with a gentle corn sweetness and subtle complexity. On the palate, the Smooth and full-bodied with a creamy corn character is beautifully done, and the Medium-length with a clean. I agree with the editorial review — this is a seriously impressive vodka. Tried it neat at room temperature first, then chilled from the freezer. Both excellent, but neat at room temp shows off the character better.
