Tasting Notes

Nose

Pine needles, earthy resin, and a subtle citrus note from the Simcoe hops. More savoury and herbaceous than its Citra sibling.

Palate

Bold and assertive with resinous pine, earthy hop bitterness, and a herbal quality. The wheat base is clean, allowing the Simcoe character to dominate. More challenging than the Citra but equally fascinating.

Finish

Long and dry with lingering pine resin and a pleasant bitterness.

Expert Review

7/10

Mikkeller's Simcoe Dry Hopped Vodka is the earthier, more assertive sibling to their Citra expression. Simcoe hops bring piney, resinous character to a quintuple-distilled wheat spirit, creating something that will particularly appeal to fans of American IPAs. Challenging but rewarding.

Tried this side by side with several competitors at a tasting and it stands head and shoulders above them. The nose gives you More savoury and herbaceous than its Citra sibling — it's immediately apparent this is quality. Then the palate opens up with More challenging than the Citra but equally fascinating and the danish wheat character shines through. The finish is clean and lingering. I've already ordered another bottle. Excellent work from Mikkeller Spirits.
