Heritage & Distillery

Cracovia takes its name from the Latin designation for Kraków — Poland's cultural capital and a city whose relationship with vodka production stretches back centuries. Produced by Polmos Kraków — one of the many state-established distilleries that emerged from Poland's post-war spirits industry — Cracovia was created in 1995, making it a relatively young brand within a vodka tradition of considerable antiquity. The master distillers at Polmos bring generations of accumulated expertise to the production, and the result is a spirit that punches well above its modest price point.

Production & Tasting

Bottled at 42% ABV — two points above the conventional 40%, a decision that gives the spirit a fractionally greater weight and presence on the palate — Cracovia presents on the nose with clean, precise grain aromas, a hint of white pepper, and subtle mineral notes. It is an understated nose that invites rather than demands attention, and the overall impression is one of quiet competence.

The palate is smooth and elegant, with clean grain sweetness as the primary note, gentle spice adding warmth, and a well-balanced, rounded character that speaks to the skill of the distillation. At 42%, the spirit has sufficient presence to be enjoyed neat, and the extra two percentage points of alcohol contribute a warmth and body that a 40% bottling might lack. The finish is medium and clean, with gentle warmth and a dry, composed close.

Verdict

Cracovia is an outstanding value proposition — at £21.95, it delivers a quality of spirit that many vodkas at twice the price would envy. The clean, elegant character is typical of the best Polish grain vodkas, the 42% ABV strength is well-judged, and the overall impression is of a spirit produced with care and expertise. For everyday drinking and cocktails alike, Cracovia is hard to beat at this price.

As someone who's been appreciating quality vodka for years, this is among the finest I've encountered at this price point. On the nose I get subtle mineral notes — let it warm slightly in the glass and the aromas open up. The palate is where it really shines: gentle spice with a well-balanced. Polmos Kraków has clearly mastered their craft.

A reliable pour that won't blow your mind but does the job. The nose has Clean and precise with soft grain — the review is accurate there. The palate gives you rounded character, which is fine but a bit safe. I keep reaching for other bottles when I want to sip neat, but for cocktails it's hard to complain. The composed close is clean.
