Tasting Notes

Nose

Pristine and crystalline, with an almost ethereal quality. The faintest whisper of sweet cream and white pepper. Exceptionally pure.

Palate

Supremely smooth and silky, with an almost liquid-silk texture. Delicate cream, soft grain sweetness, and the merest hint of anise. Flawless.

Finish

Long, warming, and impeccably clean with a gentle peppery warmth.

Elit is Stolichnaya's ultra-premium expression, and it represents everything the brand has learned about vodka production distilled into a single, extraordinary spirit. The secret lies in the patented freeze-filtration process: post-distillation, the vodka is cooled to minus 18 degrees Celsius, causing remaining impurities to crystallise and separate from the liquid. The result is a vodka of almost unbelievable purity.

This particular bottling is a three-litre Jeroboam — a serious statement piece that requires an equally serious freezer. But the format is appropriate, because Elit is a vodka that deserves to be shared generously. The nose is pristine, with barely perceptible notes of sweet cream and white pepper that only emerge after patient contemplation.

On the palate, Elit is simply magnificent. The texture is liquid silk, carrying the most delicate flavours of cream, soft grain, and a whisper of anise. It is vodka stripped back to its Platonic ideal — pure, smooth, and impeccably balanced. The finish is long and warming, with a gentle peppery quality that lingers beautifully.

At £272 for three litres, the per-serve cost is actually rather reasonable for a vodka of this calibre. Elit regularly trades blows with spirits costing significantly more, and it deserves its place at the very top of any vodka ranking.

If you are in the market for the finest vodka money can buy, and you happen to have the freezer space, this Jeroboam is the ultimate purchase.

One of the most well-crafted vodkas I've tasted. The The faintest whisper of sweet cream and white pepper promises quality, and the palate delivers with with an almost liquid-silk texture. Nothing feels harsh or out of place. The warming ties it all together. I tried it neat, chilled, and in a Moscow Mule — it shines in all three. The russian wheat & rye base gives it a distinctive character. Can't recommend it highly enough.

I can see why people rate this but it's not quite my favourite. The with an almost ethereal quality is clean — really approachable — but the palate is a touch too neutral for my preferences. The Delicate cream is smooth and easy, which makes it good for vodka newcomers. I was expecting a bit more character given the editorial score.
