Tasting Notes

Nose

Sweet and gentle with corn character, a touch of vanilla, and a clean, slightly creamy quality. Approachable and unintimidating.

Palate

Smooth and slightly sweet, with a corn-forward character that is rounder and softer than wheat vodka. Six distillations create a clean, easy-drinking spirit with good body.

Finish

Medium-length with gentle sweetness and a warm, clean close.

Tito's Vodka is the brainchild of Tito Beveridge — a former geologist who founded what became Texas' first and oldest legal distillery in Austin. The brand has since grown into one of America's biggest craft spirits success stories, and having tasted the vodka, the growth is well deserved.

Made from corn — the quintessential American grain — and distilled six times, Tito's has a character distinct from European wheat and rye vodkas. The nose is sweet and gentle, with an unmistakable corn sweetness, a touch of vanilla, and a creamy quality. On the palate, that corn character translates to a rounder, softer spirit than you would get from wheat — more bourbon country than Baltic state.

Six distillations ensure smoothness without stripping away the corn personality entirely. There is enough flavour here to make neat sipping pleasant, while the clean profile makes it a versatile mixer. In a Moscow Mule, the corn sweetness plays beautifully against ginger beer's spice.

At £26.50, Tito's offers genuine value. The 'craft' label is sometimes applied loosely in the spirits world, but Tito's earned it — this began as a genuine small-batch operation, and the quality control has been maintained even as production has scaled. A solid, reliable, and thoroughly American vodka.

Not terrible but not worth the premium. The nose promised Sweet and gentle with corn character and Approachable and unintimidating, but the palate is flat and the Medium-length with gentle sweetness and a warm disappears too quickly. I've had better vodkas at half the price. The Six distillations create a clean the review describes wasn't apparent to me. Perhaps I got a bad bottle.
